Causes of Improper Pipeline Tracking

Incorrect belt tracking is one of the most common problems with belt conveyors. There are many reasons for tracking errors, the main ones being poor installation accuracy and poor daily maintenance. During the installation process, the head and tail rollers and the intermediate guide roller should be on the same center line as far as possible and parallel to each other, so that the conveyor belt is not misaligned or less misaligned. In addition, the belt connections must be correct and the circumference on both sides must be the same.

During use, if there is a deviation, the following checks should be made to determine the cause and make adjustments. Parts and processing methods that are often checked when deflecting a conveyor belt are:
(1) Check the discrepancy between the transverse centerline of the roller and the longitudinal centerline of the conveyor belt. If the overlap value is less than 3mm, it should be adjusted using the long mounting holes on both sides of the tension roller set. The specific method is which side of the conveyor belt is deflected, which side of the tensioner moves forward towards the conveyor belt, or the other side moves backward.

(2) Check the amount of deflection of the two planes of the head and tail frame mounting bearing seats. If the deviation between two planes exceeds 1mm, the two planes must be adjusted to the same plane. Head pulley adjustment method: If the conveyor belt deviates to the right side of the drum, the bearing seat on the right side of the drum should move forward or the left bearing seat should move backward; If the conveyor belt deviates toward the left side of the drum, the bearing seat on the left side of the drum must move forward or the right bearing seat must move backward. The tail drum is adjusted in the opposite direction from the head roller.

(3) Check the position of the material on the conveyor belt. Material that is not centered on the cross section of the conveyor belt will cause the conveyor belt to deflect.
If the material is biased to the right, the belt is biased to the left and vice versa. When using the material should be as centered as possible. To reduce or avoid such belt mistracking, a baffle can be added to change the direction and position of the material.
